Featuring
Jenny Oak Baker, violin
Sarah Baker, cello
- Brahms, Hungarian Dance No. 5
- Brahms, Double Concerto in A minor
- Brahms, Symphony No. 1
Opening with the fiery energy of Brahms’s Hungarian Dance No. 5, the evening ignites in dazzling folkloric rhythms before transitioning to a profound artistic statement in the composer’s final orchestral work, the Double Concerto in A minor, Op. 102. In this centerpiece, virtuosos Jenny Oaks Baker (violin) and Sarah Baker (cello) weave a richly expressive dialogue, guiding audiences through moments of lyrical intimacy and dramatic interplay. The program then culminates in Brahms’s monumental Symphony No. 1, whose sweeping Romantic grandeur and masterful craftsmanship affirm its place among the great symphonic achievements. Together, the three works offer a cohesive journey—spanning fiery dance, intimate concerto conversation, and triumphant symphony—that celebrates the full breadth of Brahms’s genius.
